Update: Police Confirm Body Of Male Found

There's great sadness in the East End tonight as members of the First Nation community are gathered on the bank of the McIntyre River near Island Drive.  

Police confirm there has been a male body found just before 6 pm but they aren't releasing further information.

All day today police helicopters and divers were searching the city rivers looking for 14 year old Josiah Begg.

He's been missing since May 6th.

Body located in McIntyre River

The Thunder Bay Police Service is currently investigating the death of a male who was located in the McIntyre River just before 6:00 p.m. on May 18, 2017.

The Ontario Provincial Police Underwater Search and Recovery Unit located and recovered the deceased in the McIntyre River near Island Drive. The TBPS Criminal Investigations Branch have secured the scene and are awaiting the results of the postmortem. The identity of the male has not been confirmed at this time. 

TBPS Identification unit and Criminal Investigations unit are continuing to investigate.
