The city's top groundbreakers were honoured today.
It was the RBC Innovation Awards.
Tops on the list was GridLink which won Innovative Company of the Year while the George Jeffrey Children's Centre won for Innovative Project of the Year.
Other winners were: Dr. Alla Reznik of Lakehead University who won the Innovation Hero award, Bradley Momberg & Kyle Rodrigues, Redox got the Young Innovator of the Year with David Stezenko was the Advisor of the Year.
9th Annual RBC Innovation Awards

The Northwestern Ontario Innovation Centre hosted its 9th Annual RBC Innovation Awards luncheon with a sold out event of over 150 people in attendance to celebrate and recognize innovative companies and individuals In Northwestern Ontario.
Over 25 nominations came in from across Northwestern Ontario for five award categories which include Innovation Advisor of the Year, Innovative Project of the Year, Young Innovator of the Year, Innovation Hero of the Year, and Innovative Company of the Year.
“Once again we are excited to recognize and celebrate the outstanding innovation taking place in Northwestern Ontario. Twenty five nominations were received from around our region representing diverse companies, projects, heroes, advisors and youth. These awards are a reminder of the vibrant innovation and entrepreneurial ecosystem present in this region..” Says Judy Sander, Manager of the Northwestern Ontario Innovation Centre.
The 2017 Winners are:
